A variety of factors made Maryland Terrapins defensive coordinator Todd Bradford's job very difficult in the 2011 season, but his defense still performed at an unacceptable level. After finishing 108th in total defense and 103rd in scoring defense, Bradford is not expected to return as defensive coordinator in 2012. His firing (or demotion) has not yet been finalized, but it's all but inevitable at this point. Penn State co-defensive coordinator and former Maryland head coach Ron Vanderlinden is being linked to the job, as is former Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon.
Todd Bradford Likely Out As Maryland Defensive Coordinator
Maryland football is cleaning out their assistant coaching staff. Offensive coordinator Gary Crowton has already been replaced by Mike Locksley, while defensive coordinator Todd Bradford looks as good as gone.

When Randy Edsall took over at Maryland, there was optimism abound in College Park. In his time at Connecticut, he guided the program from the FCS (Division I-AA at the time) to the FBS, then took them to five bowl games and one BCS appearance in their first seven seasons in the division. Things have not gone as planned, with Maryland going 2-10 in Edsall’s first season. If Maryland athletics was more healthy financially, Edsall would probably be out of a job. Instead, since the university’s financial commitment to Edsall is too great, they’re doing the next best thing and cleaning out the assistant coaches.
Maryland has already replaced their offensive coordinator, hiring Mike Locksley to replace Gary Crowton.
