The No. 4 Louisville Cardinals have struggled to beat mid-major teams for weeks, edging the College of Charleston and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in their last two games by 10 points or less. In their Big East opener against the No. 12 Georgetown Hoyas, a team that's surprised just about everyone with several huge wins, the Cardinals couldn't turn it on enough, and they dropped their first game of the season at home, 71-68.

Markel Starks led the Hoyas with 20 points, while reserve forward Otto Porter had a major contribution off the bench with 14 points and 14 rebounds, missing just one field goal. Kyle Kuric led the Cardinals with 17 points, but took 12 three-pointers and made just five of them. Point guard Peyton Siva had 16 points with six assists in the losing effort.

The game was narrow throughout — no team led by double-digits at any point — but the Hoyas led for the majority of the second half, and wouldn’t relinquish it down the stretch when the Cardinals made their final push. After the loss, there were just five remaining unbeatens in Division I basketball.
