SEC Championship Game 2011 Score: Georgia Takes First Blood*

The Georgia Bulldogs opened the 2011 SEC Championship Game with star freshman Isaiah Crowell on the sidelines and backup Richard Samuel out hurt. Diminutive tailback Carlton Thomas got the start, meaning the LSU Tigers should've expected Aaron Murray to whip the ball around a little.

Whip it around he did, finding Tavarres King for a 44-yard gain over the middle. On the next third and long, he bounced the ball off King's fingers in the end zone, nearly achieving the first opening-drive touchdown LSU has allowed all year. Blair Walsh stepped in to produce a field goal and make it 3-0.

Still, that’s the first score of any sort LSU has given up on an opening drive.

* Field goals count as blood in the SEC, right?
