Cincinnati scored on two very different second quarter bookend drives to take a 14-7 halftime lead over Vanderbilt in the 2011 AutoZone Liberty Bowl. Bearcats running back George Winn broke past a Vanderbilt blitz for a 69-yard touchdown run on the very first play of the quarter, and quarterback Zach Collaros hit receiver Anthony McClung for an eight yard touchdown pass with 12 seconds remaining to cap a nine play, 56 yard drive, Cincy's strongest of the day.

In between, both offense struggled to develop much of anything, combining for only 66 yards passing (Collaros is 6-of-15 for 40 yards, one TD and one INT, and Vandy's Jordan Rodgers is 4-of-12 for 26 yards). Both teams failed to mount long drives until Collaros' touchdown drive, combining to go 2-of-15 on third downs.
Cincinnati's second scoring started after a bizarre effort by the Commodores. Punter Richard Kent fumbled a snap on 4th and 15 on the Commodore 31-yard-line, but frantically scrambled 17 yards for a first down, only to have Vandy turn the ball over at midfield on an ensuing 4th and 2 when a halfback jump pass from Zac Stacy fell incomplete behind tight end Brandon Barden.
