Vanderbilt senior quarterback Larry Smith lost his starting job back in October after splitting reps with sophomore Jordan Rodgers, but after Rodgers failed to create any momentum for the Commodores against Cincinnati, head coach James Franklin inserted Smith, who led an eight play, 52 yard drive to tie the game when tailback Jerron Seymour scored from eight yards out.

Rodgers finished the day 4-of-14 passing for 26 yards, one interception and was sacked twice. In one drive, Smith surpassed Rodgers with 34 yards on three completions.
Cincinnati's Zach Callaros has struggled in his return, completeing only ten of his 21 passes and taking three sacks. The Bearcats have largely survived on the running of Isiah Pead (87 yards) and George Winn (72 yards, 1 TD).
Neither team has eclipsed 70 yards passing through three quarters, and Vanderbilt has mustered only 168 total yards.
