Famous Idaho Potato Bowl 2011: Utah State Set To Face Ohio Bobcats

On the docket: the Utah State Aggies, who accepted a bid about a week ago. Now the Aggies have an opponent, as the official Twitter feed for the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl has announced the Ohio Bobcats as the second team in the bowl game.

The Aggies finished the 2011 regular season with an overall record of 7-5. The Ohio Bobcats finished their 2011 season with an overall final record of 9-4 after dropping the MAC Championship Game to Northern Illinois on Friday.

The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (formerly known as the Humanitarian Bowl) has been played on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium since 1997. This game currently pits a member of the Western Athletic Conference against a member of the Mid-American Conference. Last year the MAC won the game convincingly, with Northern Illinois cruising to a 40-17 win over Fresno State.

This year’s game is part of the first day of bowl games for the 2011 season, sandwiched between the New Mexico Bowl at 2:00 p.m. ET and the New Orleans Bowl at 9:00 p.m. Dave Fleming, Mike Bellotti and Heather Cox will call the game for ESPN.

Game date, time: 5:30 pm ET, Saturday, December 17th

Location: Bronco Stadium, Boise, ID

TV channel: ESPN/ESPN3

2010 winner and loser: Northern Illinois, Fresno State
