Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Dayne Crist will leave the program to play elsewhere, the school confirmed to the Chicago Tribute. Since he's set to graduate this semester, he'll be eligible to play next year, a la Russell Wilson.
Dayne Crist Leaving Notre Dame Football After 2011 Season
Notre Dame quarterback Dayne Crist will transfer from South Bend.

Coach Brian Kelly, to the Tribune:
“Dayne and I had a good conversation Friday and I have granted him permission to speak to other schools,” Kelly said. “Dayne has been a valuable member of our team the last two years and if he feels he needs to look for a better situation then I think we owe that to him.”
Crist regained and re-lost the Irish starting job to Tommy Rees after injuries set him back in his first two seasons. He ended up throwing fewer passes in 2011 than Andrew Hendrix, a fellow junior who'd started the year No. 3 on the depth chart.
