TCU, Louisiana Tech, 2011 Poinsettia Bowl: TCU Disappointed In No BCS Bid

The TCU Horned Frogs will head back to California for a bowl game, but it’s not in the BCS this time.

The TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in the 2011 Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, CA. Last season the Horned Frogs rode their season into a BCS bowl and knocked off Wisconsin. This season, the Horned Frogs fell just short of a BCS at-large bid, instead making their way back to California for the Poinsettia Bowl.

TCU head coach Gary Patterson put the bowl in proper perspective for his team. “Do you want to have an eight-game winning streak or a one-game losing streak?” Patterson said he told his team. “Do you want to be preseason ranked or do you not want to be ranked at all? Because that’s what’s in jeopardy for the team that returns next year.”
