Temple, Wyoming, 2011 New Mexico Bowl: Owls Get Back To A Bowl Game After Missing Last Year

After missing out on bowl game last season, despite an 8-4 record, the Temple Owls will head to New Mexico to take on the Wyoming Cowboys.

The Temple Owls and Wyoming Cowboys will meet in the 2011 New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque, NM. It's a bowl game that is not new to the Cowboys, as they played in the New Mexico Bowl in 2009. "Two years ago, we had a great experience at the New Mexico Bowl," Wyoming coach Dave Christensen said. "We are honored to receive this invitation. Our team has worked extremely hard this season, and this is a great reward for our players, coaches and fans."

For the Owls on the other hand, it offers up an opportunity to play somewhere other than DC and to actually get into a bowl game. Last season the Owls had an 8-4 record, but were the only team in the NCAA with more than six wins who did not get to go to a bowl game. "Last year, obviously, it was a really tough time, because you think that you're definitely getting a bowl game," Temple offensive lineman John Palumbo said. "So I think this year we were a little more skeptical, and was definitely a sigh of relief."
