7A: Palm Beach Dwyer Leads Bradenton Manatee 7-6 At The Half

It’s been a wild game in Bradenton between these two 7A powers.

Both teams feature quality offensive lines and quarterbacks destined to play in the BCS. Georgia commitment Faton Bauta has been wild and inaccurate in the first half, but the Dwyer quarterback has made up for it with his legs. Manatee junior Cord Sandberg has been precise in flipping the ball out to his speedy receivers.

Neither defense played particularly well, despite the low score. Dwyer repeatedly shot itself in the foot with holding penalties, and both offenses had careless fumbles. One of those fumbles was returned by Manatee for its only touchdown (missed extra point).

It’s tough to win in Bradenton, but Dwyer might just have the athletes to pull the upset.
