Good news for Georgia after a morning of panic, in the wake of a report by the student paper that starting quarterback Aaron Murray had broken his ankle in a “team activity”: Zach Klein is reporting that team doctors have diagnosed Murray with a right ankle sprain, not a fracture.
Aaron Murray Injury Update: Ankle Sprained, Not Broken
According to UGA Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson, Murray was evaluated by team physicians. X-rays taken were negative and an MRI performed Monday confirmed a right ankle sprain.Murray apparently sustained the injury during a pickup soccer game. According to a timeline provided this morning by Seth Emerson, the recovery period should put Georgia’s golden boy back under center for spring practice:
One thing to remember: Georgia has scheduled its first spring practice for March 10, the day before spring break, and then doesn’t practice again until March 22. So conceivably Murray could be held out the first spring practice and then have nearly two weeks to heal.
Most relieved of all to hear the news? David Pollack, who asks that you kindly stop slandering the noble sport of racquetball.
