Three Different TV Networks Are Fighting Over Conference USA, LOLZ

The latest flavor of the month this college football offseason is ... Conference USA? Believe it: In the wake of the conference’s new television deal with FOX, both ESPN and CBS College Sports are crying foul, and lawyering up in the wake of what the Worldwide Leader, at least, is calling a breach of contract on the conference’s part:

In a prepared statement, ESPN told SportsBusiness Journal: “Conference USA never fulfilled their contractual obligation relating to ESPN’s future rights. We are exploring possible solutions to resolve this situation but remain prepared to take any necessary steps to protect our rights.”

The concerned fan ought to side with the plaintiff here, as FOX has had their chance at the beat already with numerous higher-profile college football games, and blown each of them them big-time with shoddy coverage and indifferent reporting, but let’s keep this in perspective: For the price of millions and millions of dollars, three separate national television networks are bidding for the rights to Rice-Northwestern, Tulane-Duke, and UTEP-Stony Brook. The whole world has gone quite mad.
