Daffodils are chirping, baby birds are blooming, and the 2011 SEC football schedule has been released by the conference. Truly, the harbingers of spring could not be more welcome.
2011 SEC Football Schedule Released
Week 1 is littered with the requisite September creampuffs, but be not afraid: By virtue of playing each other (and a few holdout teams still scheduling out-of-conference like men even in this age of the devalued SOS), no conference team will play fewer than three opponents finishing in last year’s top 25, or fewer than seven 2010 bowl teams.
The Thursday-night kickoff game isn’t afforded to South Carolina this year, but the results should be just as dreadful: Kentucky will “host” Western Kentucky on September 1 at the Tennessee Titans’ LP Field. (This is about where you’ll hear, “Well, at least that field will see some football this year, hurr hurr!”, but we’re frankly not at all sure that this counts.) Other highlights from opening weekend include Oregon vs. LSU at Cowboys Stadium and Boise State vs. Georgia in the Georgia Dome for the Chick-fil-A Classic.
