Given the PR firestorm the Fiesta Bowl’s found itself under following the ousting of its CEO amid reports of lavish corruption among and gifts for bowl officials and guests, Michele Steele reports that the Fiesta Bowl is canceling this year’s scheduled melee of lavish corruption and gifts. Jerry Jones, it should be said, thinks these fine folks are overreacting:
Fiesta Bowl Cancels Forthcoming Fiestas. Why?
As the search for new leadership and the implementation of new governance actions must be our primary focus, we have decided to cancel this year’s Valley of the Sun Experience & Fiesta Bowl Seminars that was scheduled for May 4-6 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Once these issues are behind us, we look forward to your input on our Spring event for 2012.
This is sort of ridiculous, right? There’s no way the Fiesta Bowl continues on as a rotating national title game after all this, not with public pressure plus politicking from the Cotton Bowl. Your Rome is burning, Arizona. Time to bust them fiddles out.
