Take the Nebraska quarterback to the NFL and, just like a Rockies' clean-up hitter on the road, all that power and grace simply seems to disappear.
Eric Crouch To Play For UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks, Fulfill Destiny
Therefore, if the Nebraska QB can only succeed in Nebraska, the only logical conclusion is to let them play professional football within the confines of the Cornhusker State. So it is written, so it is done.
In a move that will surely get the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks some local publicity, the team has announced that former Nebraska Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch has been signed to the active roster.
Crouch, who attended the Nighthawks’ open tryout in April and their minicamp in June, will compete with fellow quarterbacks D.J. Shockley and Jeremiah Masoli.
Crouch hasn’t played professional football since 2006 when he was a Toronto Argonaut in the CFL. However if the legend is true, the powers of Nebraska should imbue him with the kind of ability that won him the 2001 Heisman Trophy Award*.
* I fully admit I had to look up that Eric Crouch won the Heisman Trophy in 2001. I totally forgot...but Nebraska hasn’t. Nebraska never does...
