The 2011 Davey O'Brien Watch List recently came out with the top 38 college quarterbacks to follow as we enter the new season. It should come as no surprise that Stanford's Andrew Luck headlines this list. Luck and Boise State's Kellen Moore, also on the list, were finalists for the award in 2010, but that award went to Auburn's Cam Newton.
2011 Davey O’Brien, Doak Walker Watch Lists Revealed
Houston Case Keenum, USC's Matt Barkley and Oklahoma's Landry Jones should also be considered good bets to at least be semifinalists this year. San Diego State's Ryan Lindley could be a surprise, but wouldn't it funny if Maryland's Danny O'Brien won it since the two share a last name?
The 2011 Doak Walker Watch List also was unveiled for the top running backs in the nation. Oregon's LaMichael James, the 2010 recipient, headlines this list and is a favorite to win the award again. Texas' Ricky Williams (1997-98) and Arkansas' Darren McFadden (2006-07) are the only other running backs to win the award twice.
We’ll find out on Dec. 8 who will win these awards when ESPN has its college football awards show.
