Yahoo! Sports Jason King recently spoke with Mike Bobinski, the Xavier athletic director who was recently appointed chairman of the 2012-13 Division I Men’s Basketball Committee. In their discussion, King asked about whether or not it would be a good idea to have reporters in the room while the committee was making it’s selections. Bobinski isn’t too thrilled with the idea.

↵↵“The difficult thing about that is that things that are said in there could be taken out of context. It’s like having a reporter sit in and watch basketball practice at Xavier. If they’re not someone who is in tune with what is going on and something happens, it could get represented in a way that does more harm than good. That’s part of the concern.
↵↵There’s some validity to that. God forbid someone makes a wisecrack about a certain school that wasn’t meant for public consumption and it gets out.
