Knile Davis Injury: Heisman Contender Injures Left Leg In Practice

Star Arkansas running back Knile Davis has been carted off the practice field, unable to put any weight on his left leg.

Razorback nation is holding its collective breath as it awaits news on its superstar running back, Knile Davis. ArkansasSports360.com had the news first:

RB Knile Davis injured on run in scrimmage. Left field in cart. Putting no pressure on left leg. Will update.less than a minute ago via Echofon Favorite Retweet Reply

Nothing about that sounds promising. Knile Davis is a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender after posting 1,322 yards in 204 carries with 13 TDs as a sophomore in Fayetteville last year. Those numbers don’t even tell the whole story: Davis didn’t have a 100-yard game until Oct. 23 against Ole Miss, when he ran for 176 yards.

He proceeded to run wild against some of the elite of the SEC, quite literally, over the remainder of the year. He had 110 yards and 3 TDs against South Carolina, 187 yards and 2 TDs against Mississippi State and 152 yards and one score against LSU in the regular season finale.

Add in 139 yards against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl, and you have all the precursors of a record-setting year. All of that goes out the window if that leg isn’t healthy. It’s foolhardy to speculate as to the seriousness of the injury, but if it’s a running back and a leg, it’s bad news.

Brace for impact, Hogs fans.
