Baylor Bears WR Josh Gordon Leaves Program
Baylor head coach Art Briles confirmed Tuesday that junior receiver Josh Gordon has left the Bears program after being suspended indefinitely before preseason camp began.
“Circumstances have unfolded for Josh that require him to pursue his collegiate degree and athletic career at a different university...I’m appreciative of the efforts he has made the past two seasons for this football program.”
Gordon was arrested in October 2010 after being found in a car that had marijuana inside. Gordon was in the cae with teammate Willie Jefferson, who was dismissed from the team after the incident.
He was the team’s second-leading receiver in 2010, grabbing 42 passes for 714 yards and seven touchdowns. His 94-yard touchdown reception against Kansas last year was the longest play in Baylor history.
He had one reception for seven yards as a freshman.
Gordon is said to be seeking a transfer to Utah but that was not confirmed.
