The Fiesta Bowl is set to move up three days, from Jan. 5 to Jan. 2, 2012 at 8:30 PM ET, according to a report from CBSSports.com. Due the NFL lockout, and the possibility that the regular season schedule would be pushed back a week, the BCS did not schedule any games on the night of Jan. 2 in case a Monday night NFL game had to be played. With the lockout over, the NFL regular season will end definitively on Jan. 1 as originally scheduled, allowing the Fiesta to move up.

The Fiesta Bowl will be played at 8:30 PM ET, using the Rose Bowl as a lead-in.
The BCS extended the option to the Fiesta, Sugar and Orange bowls to move their games up to the evening Jan. 2 timeslot after the end of the NFL lockout. The Sugar and Orange decided to keep their dates of Jan. 3 and Jan. 4, respectively. The Fiesta moved up in hopes of drawing higher ratings from the Rose Bowl’s lead-in, set to kickoff at 5:00 ET. Jan. 2 is recognized as a holiday as well, making it easier for fans to attend the game.
