Janzen Jackson has been dismissed from the Tennessee football team just a couple of months after the team’s best defensive player returned to the Volunteers after a four-month absence due to personal issues. Teneessee head coach made the announcement on the school’s website.
Janzen Jackson Dismissed From Tennessee Football Team
“Our program has devoted a tremendous amount of energy, resources, support, and care in an effort to help Janzen manage his personal challenges,” said Dooley. “I will always be there to help him as a person, but there comes a time when a player’s actions preclude him from the privilege of playing for the University of Tennessee football team.
“Although I’m disappointed with this outcome, we will never compromise the long-term organizational values and goals we maintain here at Tennessee.”
The “privilege” of being a player for the University of Tennessee never seemed to be one that Jackson held in high regard as he was suspended from the team twice during his three-year career.
When he was in uniform, though, Jackson was one of the Vols’ best players as he led the team in interceptions during his sophomore season and was named to the All-SEC Second Team in 2010 before the current incidents arose.
