Central Michigan Football Suspends Kashawn Fraser, Lorenzo White

The two defenders will each sit out at least one game for undisclosed reasons.

There are two reasons why a MAC program like Central Michigan might not need to worry about suspending two defensive players, one for a single game and another for two. The first reason would be playing a team from the subdivision formerly known as 1-AA, still a body bag game for most midmajor teams. And the other is playing against a BCS team that is likely to win against a MAC team anyway. Check, and check.

The school said Wednesday that junior defensive back Lorenzo White will sit out the season opener against South Carolina State on Sept. 1. Senior defensive end Kashawn Fraser, who was suspended during spring practice, will complete his punishment by missing the opener and the Sept. 10 game at Kentucky.

Officially, the school won’t say why the two players -- who combined for 52 tackles last year -- are suspended. We can take a wild, flailing shot in the dark when it comes to Fraser.
