LSU Football Suspends QB Jordan Jefferson, LB Josh Johns Indefinitely

LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and linebacker Josh Johns have been suspended indefinitely for their roles in a barroom brawl in Baton Rouge last week, according to ESPN’s Joe Schad. Warrants were issued for the arrest of both players on battery charges earlier on Friday. The suspensions should keep both players from playing in the season opener against No. 3 Oregon.

With Jefferson out, the Tigers will at least have some experience at quarterback with senior Jarrett Lee at the helm. Still, Lee is just 5-4 as a starter in his career. The game is pivotal for both teams' national title aspirations.

The suspensions stem from a fight on Aug. 18 in which Jefferson reportedly kicked victim Andrew Lowery, a Marine, in the head. It was Lowery who threw the first punch according to witnesses, however, and he stands accused of abusing an 18-year-old ex-girlfriend prior to the fight as well.
