LSU Players Officially Arrested On Battery Charges, Released On $5,000 Bond

Shortly after arrest warrants were issued Friday, LSU football players Jordan Jefferson and Joshua Johns surrendered to authorities and were processed on felony battery charges before they were each released on $5,000 bond.

One of the players’ legal representatives, Associate Shannon Fay, told the Associated Press, “This is an ongoing case, and we will continue to diligently defend our clients, who we believe are innocent.”

Meanwhile, both players have been suspended indefinitely by the school and football team, and in the meantime, LSU coach Les Miles had this to say: “We will continue to cooperate with the authorities in an effort to find out exactly what took place during the incident. As sad as this incident is, it’s important that we learn from this and that we take away a valuable lesson. This has weighed on all of us. It’s time for us to come together as a team and focus on what we are here to do.”

For now, both players will have to wait for their day in court, and LSU will plan on playing without them for the immediate future, including the Tigers’ September 3rd opener against the no. 3 Oregon Ducks.
