Michigan has suspended punter Will Hagerup for four games and wide receiver Terrence Robinson for the season opener for violating team rules, the team announced on its website. But that's not all! The program is also redshirting WR Darryl Stonum after the player's second DUI charge.
Michigan Football: Darryl Stonum Redshirted, Terrence Robinson Suspended
Michigan has suspended punter Will Hagerup for four games and wide receiver Terrence Robinson for the season opener, the school announced Sunday.
New coach Brady Hoke isn’t messing around this year, after Michigan’s three-year disaster under Rich Rodriguez, which included NCAA violations. The money quote:
“In order to build a championship-caliber culture, you have to be accountable to each other on and off the field,” said Hoke. “There are expectations at the University of Michigan you must live up to.”
That’s the kind of stuff Michigan Men say, and Robinson and Hagerup weren’t very Michigan-Men-like, it would appear. There’s no use speculating in what it is they did, but it is worth investigating to see if they committed the same offense and were given different punishments. Worth it for those other reporters.
Michigan opens its season of hope against Western Michigan, so they won't be desperate for some Terrence Robinson in that game. However, Hagerup has a big leg that is unmatched on the Wolverines' squad, according to Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press, so his loss could hurt the team.
