The Oklahoma Sooners and Florida St. Seminoles kicked off their top-five matchup with an efficient drive by Heisman Trophy front-runner Landry Jones, who began the game completing each of his five passes. Though most of those were pretty easy passes. He eventually capped the drive with a one-yard sneak for a touchdown, putting OU up, 7-0 in the first quarter.
Oklahoma Vs. Florida State Live Updates: Landry Jones Drives And Scores
Deploying multiple screens to Ryan Broyles, OU clearly opened the game looking to spread FSU's defense out a little bit and bring the defense in tight. Broyles also made a gritty catch in the middle for a first down, giving him four catches for 19 yards so far.
Running back Brennan Clay hit the edges hard for 28 total yards, and Dominique Whaley made a couple tough runs up the middle, including one 11-yard gain that nearly broke the plane.
There’s no better way to take the life out of a fired-up stadium than putting together a 23-play drive to open the game.
Some more bad news for the Noles: both Greg Reid and Moses McCray were shaken up and had to step off the field.
