FSU Vs. Oklahoma Score Update: E.J. Manuel Dash Sets Up 53-yard Field Goal

A spectacular, 28-yard run by Florida St. Seminoles quarterback E.J. Manuel set the Noles up to respond after an opening-drive Oklahoma Sooners touchdown. Manuel broke at least part of two or three tackles before using his hand to find his balance as he pushed up the sideline. FSU couldn't do much once it got within scoring reach, with a sack by Tom Wort ending progress, but Dustin Hopkins belted a 53-yard field goal anyway to make it 7-3, Oklahoma, in the first quarter.

Nick O'Leary, he of the bare hands and arms like an uninspired NCAA 12 character, made a tough catch-and-run-and-get-hit-and-keep-running to convert a needed first down. O'Leary has two catches for 11 yards, but oh so much grittiness all over the place.

FSU was more eager to take shots downfield than the Sooners were on their first drive, though little came of it. Oklahoma kept working screen passes, however, so expect Landry Jones to look for Ryan Broyles deep sooner (LOL!) or later. At one point, Manuel hit a receiver in the end zone, but the catch was overruled by a holding call.

There was another holding penalty on that drive-killing sack.
