Notre Dame Vs. Pittsburgh Halftime Score: Irish Up Big On Stat Sheet, But Not On Scoreboard

Last week, Notre Dame looked far removed from the team that fell to 0-2 with losses to South Florida and Michigan while beating down Michigan State. This week, against Pitt, the Irish have reverted, save for Jonas Gray.

Notre Dame leads at halftime, 7-6, because of Gray’s 79-yard touchdown scamper, but the rest of the Irish offense has been both productive and miscue-prone. The Irish have 268 yards of total offense in the first half, but two turnovers and a missed field goal by David Ruffer at the end of the half rendered Notre Dame unable to capitalize on that production.

Pittsburgh has done more plodding, but the Panthers haven’t committed any turnovers. They also capitalized on a drive that lost five yards by kicking a field goal. That’s how they’ve kept this one close despite being massively outgained.
