South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier was in a foul mood early in the game, throwing his headset just minutes into the contest. Most of that anger must come from his quarterback Stephen Garcia, who has already thrown two interceptions in one quarter of play.
Vanderbilt Vs. South Carolina Score: Vandy Takes Early 3-0 Lead As Stephen Garcia Throws Interceptions
Garcia threw his first interception on the opening drive of the game, but the Commodores were unable to build on that. After going three-and-out, Vandy gave Garcia a chance to redeem himself. He didn't. Casey Hayward, who had the first pick, put his hands on the ball for a second time.
At South Carolina's 22-yard line, Vandy moved the ball just six yards and had to attempt a 33-yard field goal. Carey Spear put it through the uprights for the 3-0 lead.
South Carolina has the ball in Vandy territory to start the second quarter.
