LSU QB Jordan Jefferson Has Charges Reduced To Simple Battery

Suspended LSU Tigers quarterback Jordan Jefferson has had charges against him dropped to simple battery, according to WBRZ's Michael Kelly. Originally, Jefferson faced a second-degree battery charge, which is a felony. The reduced charge is a misdemeanor.

In late August, Jefferson was reportedly involved in a bar brawl and kicked a man in the face. After a week of investigation Jefferson and teammate Joshua Johns were arrested on second-degree battery charges. Jefferson and Johns were both indefinitely suspended.

Jefferson was set to be the Tigers starting quarterback, but head coach Les Miles had to turn to Jarrett Lee. Lee has since guided the Tigers to four convincing victories to start the season. Though he does not have eye-popping stats, Lee has thrown for 624 yards and six touchdowns on the season. Three of his four victories have come against Top 25 teams, including then-No. 3 to open the season. As Bill Connolly writes, Lee actually gives LSU a better chance at winning than Jefferson.
