Coming off their best season since 1940 and returning presumed No. 1 draft pick Andrew Luck, the No. 7 ranked Stanford Cardinal will face off with local rivals San Jose State. As seems to be the norm with the Spartans, they are once again in rebuilding mode under second-year coach Mike MacIntyre.
San Jose State Vs. Stanford: Game Time, TV Schedule, Odds And More
No. 7 Stanford faces a San Jose State team that seems to perpetually be in rebuilding mode.
The Spartans have, at least on occasion, managed to turn their rivalry game with their northern neighbors into worthwhile watching. This game is being compared to their encounter in 1982 when the Spartans beat the Cardinal and another highly touted quarterback, John Elway. In that game, the Spartans were coached by Jack Elway, who relentlessly blitzed his son.
This year’s team will enjoy no such inside knowledge. David Shaw will be making his Stanford coaching debut, who will undoubtedly be looking to build on predecessor Jim Harbaugh’s legacy.
Game Date, Time: 5 PM ET, Saturday, Sept. 3
Location: Stanford Stadium, Palo Alto
TV Channel: CSN Bay Area
Spread: Stanford by 30
