Things are going very well for the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday. In the third quarter of their game against Appalachian State, they're leading by a score of 52-0. Apparently, the Athletic Director and university President were so impressed by the Hokies' performance that they decided to extend Frank Beamer's contract in the middle of the game!
Virginia Tech Football Extends Frank Beamer’s Contract Through 2016
Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer has signed a contract extension that will run through the 2016 football season.
Okay, so it probably didn’t go down like that, but the university announced in the middle of Tech’s game that Beamer’s contract will be extended through the 2016 football season. This is Beamer’s 25th season as coach of Virginia Tech and he will surpass 200 wins as head coach of the program this season. Here’s what AD Jim Weaver had to say about Beamer and his new contract.
“I am very pleased that head football coach Frank Beamer has signed a new contract with the university that will take us through the 2016 season,” Weaver said. “Frank has done an outstanding job in his 24 years at Virginia Tech and we look forward to his continued leadership as we strive to win a national championship.”
