Chuck Martin Named New Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator

Safeties coach Chuck Martin is Notre Dame’s new offensive coordinator.

A week ago, Notre Dame Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly said his staff would remain intact. Monday, he made some sweeping changes.

The biggest change is safeties coach Chuck Martin now becoming the team’s offensive coordinator, flipping sides. Former OC Charley Molnar left the team to take over at UMass.

Martin led Grand Valley State to a pair of NCAA Division II national championships and won over 91 percent of his games as the Lakers’ head coach. Martin was also named one of the top 25 recruiters in nation in 2011 by multiple outlets.

Defensive coordinator Bob Diaco has been named assistant head coach while Kerry Cooks has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator.

Two coaches have left Notre Dame for positions on new Ohio St. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer’s staff. They are running backs coach Tim Hinton and offensive line coach/running game coordinator Ed Warinner. ND offensive intern Scott Booker has been promoted to a full-time position.
