Finally, the 2012 Rose Bowl will feature a punt. The first three possessions between the two teams all went for touchdowns, but it is the Wisconsin Badgers defense who has stepped up first, forcing a three and out and giving their team a change to build on their 14-7 lead over the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon actually appeared to be getting their drive off to a promising start, as a screen pass to De´Anthony Thomas went for six yards on first down. A drop by LaMichael James and a false start penalty put the Ducks in a tough position, however, and they were forced to punt after failing to convert on third down and nine. Wisconsin takes the ball at their own 41-yard line with 4"50 remaining in the first quarter.
