The SMU Mustangs and Pittsburgh Panthers are facing off in the sixth BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Alabama. The Mustangs entered Saturday's game as five-point underdogs, but thus far are playing the game in complete control. Through three quarters of play, the score is 28-6 in favor of SMU.

After a relatively quiet second quarter, the Mustangs got back on the scoreboard in the second half with another touchdown midway through the third quarter. A one-yard rush by Rishad Wimbley capped off a 10-play, 73-yard drive by SMU. The touchdown was Wimbley's second of the game.

With 3:21 left in the quarter, Pitt was able to score for only the second time in the game on a 34-yard field goal by Kevin Harper, his second of the game.
