The Detroit Lions hosted former Oregon Ducks running back LaMichael James for a visit on Wednesday. James is one of 30 players that the Lions plan to bring in before the NFL Draft, and Lions head coach Jim Schwartz was present at his pro day.
2012 NFL Draft: LaMichael James Visits Detroit Lions
“I feel like if I came here I would be just another weapon in the arsenal. They have a lot of great players, a lot of great running backs and I would just get in where I fit in.”
The Detroit Lions have spent early draft picks on Jahvid Best and Mikel Leshoure in the last two drafts, but both have struggled to make an impact due to injuries. Leshoure tore his Achilles tendon in training camp and did not play a snap in 2011, while Best missed extended time due to a concussion. Best still has not been cleared to play football by doctors, and he has a history of concussions leading up to the one he suffered during the 2011 NFL season.
