Mo Isom, LSU soccer star and homecoming queen, tried out for the Tigers team again this fall.
No Mo Isom On LSU Football Team, Apparently
The kicker had tried out in the spring during a three-day tryout where she impressed by making several 50-yard field goals and performing well on kickoffs yet was left off the spring roster. Coach Les Miles stated that she would have to overcome a lack of experience playing actual football to earn a spot as she’d be expected to make tackles down field on kickoffs, something the coach said he wasn’t sure she was ready for at the time.

But to Isom, that’s nothing compared to what she has gone through ever since entering high school. An article by Jordan Conn on Grantland looked at her turbulent life, including eating disorders, the suicide of her father and a serious auto accident in 2010.

The former women’s soccer star has earned quite a following even before taking on the football challenge. Isom is attempting to become the SEC’s first-ever female football player and the first woman to play college football in almost a decade. She could provide LSU depth at field goal kicker or contend for a job as a kickoff specialist.
