Bobby Petrino Placed On Paid Administrative Leave By Arkansas

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino has been placed on "paid administrative leave" by athletic director Jeff Long in the wake of the revelation that an employee in the school's football program was with Petrino on the night of his motorcycle accident.

Long delivered the news in a 9:45 p.m. Central Time press conference, telling gathered reporters, “I’m very disappointed.” Long noted that assistant coach Taver Johnson will take over the Razorbacks on an interim basis.

Long told reporters that Petrino called him on Thursday afternoon to disclose the details of the motorcycle accident and said he had not previously been apprised of that information, but refused to speculate on any further punishment Petrino could face from Arkansas. When asked if Petrino could repair the trust that he might have lost with the program, Long replied in the affirmative.
