Jerry Sandusky Will Not Take Stand At Trial

The trial of Jerry Sandusky appears to be winding down. On Tuesday, the defense made it clear that it was formulating a case based around Sandusky suffering from a personality disorder that makes him behave in “inappropriately seductive ways.” A psychologist testified that this disorder could explain letters that Sandusky wrote to one of his underage accusers.

Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports reports that Sandusky is not expected to take the witness stand during the trial. Wetzel reports that the defense is looking “very relaxed” and is expected to rest soon. Sandusky’s wife, Dottie, testified on Tuesday as a character witness.

Sandusky not taking the stand was perhaps an inevitability, as the defense understandably doesn't want to take any chances on a jury turning on the former Penn St. Nittany Lions assistant coach. Sandusky faces 51 criminal counts of sexual abuse and could wind up with a hefty prison term.
