The closing arguments have been made in the trial of former Penn State Nittany Lions assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. The jury has retired for deliberation and must now decide whether Sandusky is guilty of any of the 48 criminal charges against him.
Jerry Sandusky Trial In Hands Of Jury, Verdict To Follow
According to Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports, the closing statements by the prosecution were not as strong as those made by the defense, who had earlier on Thursday called into question the validity of the accusations made against Sandusky.
As Wetzel points out though, the impetus was not necessarily on the prosecution to make the more compelling closing arguments, as the state has a wealth of fairly incriminating evidence against Sandusky. The trial is now in the jury’s hands. Reporters are now on verdict watch, with no real estimate of when any verdict may be forthcoming.
