Jerry Sandusky Plans To Appeal Guilty Verdicts, Attorney Says

Karl Rominger, one of Jerry Sandusky’s defense attorneys, told CNN after the verdict that the group plans to appeal the court’s decision of guilty on 45 of 48 counts. “I can get five continuances for a speeding ticket but [Jerry Sandusky] couldn’t get one,” Rominger told CNN.

One of Rominger’s points for appeal was the fact that the defense didn’t have enough time to review all of the evidence the prosecution presented in the case.

Defense attorney Joe Amendola claims another area of appeal regarded Jerry Sandusky’s adopted son, Matt Sandusky, contacting the commonwealth and making a statement Thursday evening, claiming Jerry Sandusky had abused him.

The prosecution told Amendola they would call Matt Sandusky as a rebuttal witness if the defense called Jerry Sandusky to the stand. Amendola said their whole case was predicated on Jerry Sandusky testifying. Therefore, the defense decided that putting Jerry Sandusky on the stand would ruin any chances of acquittal on appeal.

Both Rominger and Joe Amendola commended the prosecution on how they presented their case and Amendola praised Judge Cleland for how he handled the case, noting he did an “outstanding job.”
