Former Tennessee running back David Oku has picked his next destination, and he'll be joining former Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn in his first year in charge of Arkansas State's squad. He'll be eligible to play immediately after taking a year off from football, and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Former top recruit and Tennessee tailback David Oku has picked Arkansas State as his destination after sitting out a season.
Back in 2009, Oku was ranked the No. 1 all-purpose back in the country by Rivals out of high school, but his career at Tennessee was short and not-so-sweet: the running back and kick returner played sparingly in Lane Kiffin’s only season, carrying the ball 23 times. He didn’t see the field in his first year under Derek Dooley and announced his transfer shortly afterwards. He sat out the 2011 football season, fulfilling transfer requirements, and will be able to play right off the bat for the Red Wolves. Malzahn has a pretty good idea what he’s doing on offense, so Oku will likely be able to do some damage in the Sun Belt.
