As midnight approaches on the (Big) East coast, the potential price for Boise State to pay in order to join the Big East goes way up, and now one Las Vegas TV station is reporting that the Broncos will be staying put in the Mountain West Conference.
Boise State Not Joining Big East, TV Station Reports
KLAS TV Channel 8 in Las Vegas is (sort-of) reporting that Boise is staying in the MWC, citing numerous unnamed sources that said the Broncos won’t join the Big East before, on, or after July 1. That is the date in which the exit fee from the MWC would increase from $2.5 million to $5 million, which goes with a potential loss of up to $24 million in revenues for the coming year.
For the record, the Idaho Statesman has said that the Broncos have not informed the MWC that they’re staying put.
