The Penn St. Nittany Lions football program was hit with a number of hefty penalties on Monday morning, many of them unprecedented. The players currently part of the program will be offered opportunities to transfer if they so desire. On Tuesday night, it appears the first PSU player is already pursuing his options.

Penn State running back Silas Redd is considering a transfer that would make him a member of the USC Trojans, according to Joe Schad of ESPN.

It is possible that Redd’s mulling of a transfer is only the beginning of a significant exodus from the PSU program. Only time will tell how much these sanctions will decimate what was to be the 2012 PSU football team.

Redd became the lead rusher for PSU in 2011, having six games of 100 or more rushing yards and rushing for 1,241 total yards in the regular season.
