Michael Dyer Dismissed From Arkansas State

There's been yet another twist in the Michael Dyer saga, as the former Auburn RB has now been dismissed from Arkansas State for a violation of team rules, according to a statement from ASU coach Gus Malzahn:

I am truly disappointed that it didn’t work out here at ASU for Mike. I wish Mike nothing but the best in the future.

As a freshman, Dyer was the MVP of the 2010 national championship game, rushing for 143 yards on 22 carries in Auburn’s 22-19 victory over Oregon.

As a sophomore, Dyer was the Tigers leading rusher in 2011, but he was suspended before Auburn’s bowl game due to his connection to an armed robbery by four of his teammates, although he was never charged.

He elected to follow Malzahn, his offensive coordinator at Auburn, to Arkansas State, but he wasn’t granted a waiver to play during the 2012 season.

After his latest off-field setback, he will likely try to transfer to a Division II school in order to play immediately and get himself ready for the 2013 NFL Draft.
