It has been a tough offseason for the Oklahoma Sooners and it got even tougher on Friday when Stacy McGee was suspended indefinitely. The defensive tackle violated university policy, not team policy, and will be out until head coach Bob Stoops and the university say otherwise.
Oklahoma Football Suspends DT Stacy McGee Indefinitely
Four players were suspended indefinitely earlier this summer for a violation of team rules and later on, one of those four (Kameel Jackson) was dismissed from the team. Now McGee makes it five Sooners to be suspended this offseason.
McGee was expected to start at tackle this season and take on more responsibility up front as a senior. Last year, McGee had 22 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Now that McGee is out, David King will have to move from defensive end to defensive tackle. McGee’s absence, as well as the slew of problems that Oklahoma has had this offseason will certainly raise some questions about a team that is ranked in the top five in the preseason polls.
