Potential Oklahoma State Starter Michael Bowie Transferring

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will be without Michael Bowie this season as the projected starter at left tackle has decided to leave the school following a violation of team rules according to head coach Mike Gundy.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys received some bad news earlier this week, when it was determined that potential starting left tackle Michael Bowie would be transferring. It wasn't solely on his own accord, however.

Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy said Wednesday that Bowie, a senior, had “violated team rules” and therefore intended to leave Oklahoma State. Gundy didn’t seem all that upset about the situation, however -- or at least kept it well-hidden if he was.

"The team will be fine. Another player steps in. We expect them to compete," Gundy said after his annual golf event at Karsten Creek for reporters. "It's not the first time it's happened. It's an unfortunate situation but we wish Mike the best and I'm sure that he'll be able to transfer and play for somebody."

It's unfortunate that this happened right before Bowie's senior season -- for both Oklahoma State and Bowie himself -- but Gundy believes that redshirt freshman Devin Davis might be able to fill the 6-foot-4 senior's shoes this season when they open on Sept. 1 against Savannah State.
