Buffalo will be without the services of its best defensive player heading into the start of its season, as Khalil Mack has been suspended for an unknown period of time.
Buffalo Suspends All-MAC Khalil Mack Ahead Of Georgia Game
Buffalo’s best defensive player, linebacker Khalil Mack, has been suspended for an unknown amount of time in the aftermath of a fight with teammate Fred Lee.

Mack, who made the first-team all-MAC as a sophomore and is on the preseason Nagurski and Lombardi watch lists, was recently involved in a fight with wide receiver Fred Lee. He missed Saturday's team scrimmage and Monday's practice, and word is now out that the linebacker has been suspended. His punishment might be more serious than that: The Buffalo News reports that Mack "has not been permitted to participate in team activities and isn't allowed on campus." Lee, on the other hand, received no suspension for the fight.
Mack is the best player on the Bulls’ defense by leaps and bounds. Buffalo was already destined to be outmatched heading into a matchup at Athens against Georgia, but Mack’s suspension makes victory there even less likely. And since the athletic department hasn’t yet revealed how long Mack will be suspended for, we don’t know what other games Mack has the potential to miss, but what we do know is that as long as Mack sits, Buffalo’s defense will be greatly hampered.
