The Auburn Tigers have suspended wide receiver DeAngelo Benton indefinitely, according to reports. Benson's suspension is reportedly related to the violation of team rules; which rule (or rules) were violated, and how, remains unclear. Tigers head coach Gene Chizik released this statement:
Auburn WR DeAngelo Benton Suspended Indefinitely
Auburn Tigers senior wide receiver DeAngelo Benton has been suspended indefinitely by the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

“We have standards and expectations that our football team is expected to uphold and when they do not abide by those, there are consequences. As a result, I have suspended DeAngelo Benton.”
Benton has flirted with off-field issues before. He testified earlier this year to buying synthetic marijuana, which was legal at the time, and though his name came up in the investigation of the June 9, 2012, shooting near the Auburn campus, police determined that Benton was not involved in the fight that led to the shooting.
A senior, Benton has 14 career catches, with seven coming in the 2011 season. SB Nation’s Auburn blog, College and Magnolia, listed him second on the Tigers’ depth chart at wideout for the upcoming season, saying he has yet to reach his full potential.
