Kain Colter takes over the Northwestern offense full time in 2012, after spending the 2011 season alternating between quarterback and wide receiver. He complted 67% of his passes in 2011 as well as demonstrating an explosive ability to run. He rushed for 654 yards and nine touchdowns in the 2011 season, making him as dangerous in the open field as he is under center. He'll have senior Demetrius Fields and USC transfer sophomore Kyle Prater as targets.
The Orange will be led by Ryan Nassib, a grad student who started all 12 games in the 2011 season, setting single-season records of completions (259) and passing yards (2,685) while tying the record for touchdown passes (22). He'll have Marcus Sales as a target again, the wide receiver was suspended for the entirety of the 2011 season after he was arrested on multiple drug charges. The last time Sales was on the field was the 2010 Pinstripe Bowl, where he had five catches for 172 yards and three touchdowns.
